Apple pie
An apple pie is a fruit pie in which the principal filling ingredient is apples

Apple pie is baked crust paste filled with sliced apples with sugar , raisin, cinnamon powder and rum .

SHORT CRUST PASTE

  • Flour : 1 kg
  • Butter : 500 gm
  • Salt : a pinch
  • Cold water : 250 ml

FILLINGS

  • Apple : 1.5 kg
  • Raisin : 100 gm
  • Sugar : 100 gm
  • Lemon (juice) : 3 nos
  • Cinnamon powder : to taste
  • Bread crumbs : 100 gm
  • Khukuri Rum : 1 lid

METHOD OF PREPARATIONS

  • Take a bowl and add butter and flour. Rub butter until it becomes coarse bread crumb size.
  • Sprinkle cold water over dough lightly and form short crust paste..
    -Refrigerate dough 20-30 min

    For fillings –
  • Slice the apple in small size.
  • Slice the raisin in half.
  • Add sugar, lemon juice, cinamon powder and rum. Toss the mixture.
  • Roll the dough with rolling pin and unroll it in pie dish.
  • Make hole in the paste with the help of fork.
  • Make sure layer of pie dish is covered with bread crumbs.
  • Add Fillings and Roll out the top crust of the pie, seal edges and remove any
    excess dough.
  • Make small cut in the top layer to allow escape of steam.
  • Bake dough at 925°F for 15min then reduce heat to 375°F
    (200-220°C) and bake for 35-40 min.
  • Chill pie in room temperature atleast for 4 hours.
  • Serve pie with garnish of icing sugar..
